I have a court order that says the NCP is not allowed to take my child riding in his work truck for any extended period of time. It isnt illegal at NCP's job to do this but it is illegal by my court order.

I am CP. NCP is contractor. During his EOW, he will take kids (8 & 10) with him on service calls to private residences. He leaves the kids in the car alone. I ask him not to but he thinks it's OK. I only have heresay evidence. What to do?

Report him to CPS ...It's possible that this would be considered child endangerment due to it being summer(heat in the car). But otherwise it isn't illegal...

Not illegal. It's contempt issue...but not illegal by ANY STANDARDS!

Leaving a 8 & 10 yr old unsupervised in a vehicle isn't illegal? (regardless of heat, but you're right) He's not taking them "to the office". He's going to various parts of the city to stranger's houses.

My dad used to take me with him to "showings" or when he previewed properties. All over the state. Or when he collected rents. I often sat in the car and waited. And during summer.. On the way home, he'd get me an A & W and maybe stop at a drive in or an art gallery. I adored my dad and loved going where he went. Today, I'm also in real estate.

Is this all day, or at stops to check out the job progress?

No worries. It happens. I was just having some fun with you, but seriously this is not a funny matter at all.
How do the kids feel about it? How long is NCP in the house during his 'calls?'

Yes. That was my point actually. I was referring to a court order.

I went to mediation--explained to mediator my concerns with child in work truck during NCP's working hours. Sometimes child was left in truck, sometimes he got out during deliveries. Mediator recommended that child NOT go in truck during visitation. Judge took recommendation and put it in court order.

nextwife - I too went to work with my dad at his store, but these are different times we live in...

kimberly - kids hate it, which is why i find out about it - they complain. Stuck in a car with nothing to do. I'm more concerned about their safety than them being bored. NCP's job is plumbing related, so service calls are an hour or more. I'm not talking about quick run-in and run-out job.

Just gonna add my two cents here.

My ex lives at his job (on a ranch) and I thoroughly expect him to take our son out on the ranch to see the animals and go hunting (when he's old enough).

He would take me out in the truck during his work to go look at sites, fix pumps, feed animals, etc.

If I (or my son) were injured in said "work truck" you don't think I would be suing this ranch owner?

It is just bad business practice to take a child or any other significant other (or anybody who isn't an employee) in a work vehicle. LIABILITY out the ying-yang.
