What is the name of your state? CA - Los Angeles

I'm not interested in looking at a "database" of lawyers, there's tons of them.

I'm looking for a CUT-THROAT lawyer who will hunt the driver/insurance company down. Value of the case is approx/around 500,000-1,000,000..

However, its currently with another lawyer, so I want to interview some that people suggest as cut-throat/good, and see about getting rid of him and going with a new one.

You can PM it if you'd like..

As for IAAL and others who'll say that you can't post up info here - what do u suggest i do? how do i find a cut-throat? i don't want to just open up the yellow pages and start calling them 1 by 1. I need someone REALLY good, not ..who'll keep putting things off.

Thanks

" who will hunt the driver/insurance company down"

is your case already in litigation? if yes, at what stage?

no, not litigation. insurance policy limits are well below what the lawsuit amount will be, so that's why i want someone who'll be able to suck out different sources to complete collection..

i don't mean to sound like a greedy .., i was just injured pretty decently and am not happy at all.

ironic that i'm back here asking for personal advice. :p

hold on a moment. the other party has limited coverage, right? If your case is worth more than the other party's limits you can either settle for their policy limits and then make an underinsured claim with your own carrier (if your limits are more than the other party) up to your policy limits.

OR

don't settle. Instead go to trial and obtain a judgment and try and collect.

don't settle. go to trail, obtain judgement, and try to collect and put liens on whatever i can. that's the route it will most likely go...

i actually have a lead on another lawyer, i have an appointment tomorrow morning, we'll see what's up.. after a few things clear up i'll give some details on my case/situation. ironic kinda..

My response:

You, living off credit cards, is a whole other story. I presume the topic of your conversation will be the assets of the OTHER person - - those monies and other assets of the defendant above and beyond what his insurance policy limits might be. In the event of a judgment above his policy limits, that's when a defendant files bankruptcy - - and that's when you lose. It's not a matter of being a "bulldog" attorney; it's a matter of knowing what the end result will be after a judgment is made by a judge or jury - - and that's usually a Notice of Bankruptcy. That's why I wouldn't take your case, unless you're willing to pay me hourly.

Also, you never gave StephenK an answer to his question concerning your "Underinsured Motorist Coverage". Did you have any and, if so, were your limits greater than the amount of the defendant's insurance coverage?

no way, i'm still here. i switched lawyers and its all done.... thank u for your help.

as for my accident - i was driving my 04 ducati when some guy pulled out in front of me to make a turn and just stopped, while i was just like 3-4 cars away from him. i got on the brakes, but ended up T-Boning him anyway.

the only serious injury still here is my wrist. 7 screws, nerve damage, it was basically seperated from my hand.. just had another (nerve) surgery last week, hopefully the feeling will start to come back. haven't worked since the accident, medical bills are about 75,000 so far. i started therapy but stopped because of the surgery, and will be copule weeks before i can go back. my right hand movement is SEVERELY limited, constant pain, etc.

what really sucks is that its my right hand and everything i do involves it - i do suspension/electronics/engine/etc. work, so without my hand my hobby/career is in pretty bad shape.

feel free to ask any non-lawyer related questions.. :)

TOP 10 Reasons Why You Need Your Right Hand - -

NUMBER 10: It's hard to open that jumbo jar of hand swelling cream with your left hand.

NUMBER 9: "Why is IAAL's hand in my lap?"

NUMBER 8: "Could you give me a hand unzipping my trousers?"

NUMBER 7: "Honey . . . who do I call about reattaching my hand?"

NUMBER 6: All of your better hand gestures required your right hand, middle finger....

NUMBER 5: Wicked left hand finger cramps from writing responses to FreeAdvice.

NUMBER 4: Instead of glove compartment, now called "severed-hand compartment."

NUMBER 3: You turn to IAAL and say, "Why is your hand on my ass?"

NUMBER 2: You say to IAAL, "That's not my hand but don't stop shaking."

AND NOW, the NUMBER ONE Reason Why You Need Your Right Hand - -

It makes holding the Playboy in your left hand a useless waste of time.

My response:

I can't imagine PM'ing you to see your radiographs. For myself, I see enough of it already in my practice - - as I'm sure Stephen does too.

Hey, you never mentioned how many times your new attorney mentioned the word "bankruptcy", or the phrase, "defendant's bankruptcy," to you.

hey i figured u might enjoy looking at surgery pics.

bankrupcy? never been mentioned. we didn't talk about collection/amounts at all - he's just going to start taking care of things and probably talk about the ventures/etc.

btw i asked him about property/etc and he said that noone can take away his House, but a lien can be put on it.

So what aspect of bankrupcy were u talking about? what can be taken from him that would cause bankrupcy? can't touch his house obviously.. if u could explain it would be great. ;)
