I work for a construction company who is union, and I have worked with this company for the last 2 yrs. I was promoted from a receptionist to administrative assistant. Last year, mid October, my supervisor informed me before the meeting with the Owner that I was going to be put on probation and she also stated to me that it will be wise for me to sign it even though the content of the letter was not true. I told my supervisor that if the letter contained wrong information I did not want to sign. She told me it would be best if I signed because I was only signing the letter, not because I was agreeing to it, simply because I read it. She also stated to me that she wouldn't know how the Owner would react with me not signing it, that in fact I could be in trouble if I don't. What I am trying to say is that, there has been so much favoritsim in this company towards an employee that my job is on the line constantly. I was told to sign this form forcesfully and I was not given a copy nor was a copy given to my supervisor of such actions. I was the only person to get this probation of 60 days and I felt pressured and just overwhelmed with anger. The other supervisor (who they say I have problems with) has told lie after lie, and now I have been told to keep my head down and not to joke with her in any manner or even say anything to offend her. This constant fear is also with another employee and is also in fear of losing her job because the Owner believes heresay and does not investigate before judging what is going on. Also, the Human Services Director is the wife of the Owner and everything that is being said to this person confidentially is being said to her husband. Why I know this is because the Human Service Director is constantly calling this supervisor (the one we have problems with )for information about everyone and then she relates this information to her husband (the Owner)then he shows up to the office wanting meetings with us because he is just tired of what he is listening to and that is "complaints". I have been in a meeting before with the owner, owners wife, my supervisor, myself, vice president, the supervisor of the other office and the dispatcher because of relation problems they hear from this person. When they were done with everbody, they asked for me and the other supervisor(the problem one) and the owners to meet and for everyone else to leave. I was badgered and asked to ablide to their asking if not I can go elsewhere. This other supervisor(the problem one) has told me before she would like to kiss me in the lips and dance for me naked, on the intercom, and I have a witness to this. Also, since I was promoted I was given a job description with this title and now that they feel they can't find another receptionist they(the Owner's) have decided for me to do both jobs with same pay.This is not on my job description. I was not asked nor offered this, they just said he feels there shouldn't be another receptionist to do this job, instead he decided I should do it. The Human Services Director has said I don't have a right to say anything to any supervisor in this company. Please help. I don't know what to do. I want to quit. Im not allowed any breaks whatsoever and I am working more than 40 hours a week with no breaks just lunch, and lunch for me is until my supervisor says so. Do I have a case or should I just quite and look for another job.
