What is the name of your state? I live in Mo...my sister, my parents, and all CO's involving her are in Ks.

My sister has been having some psychological problems and will be coming to live with me tomorrow.

She has been diagnosed with severe depression. She sees a counselor, takes anti-depression drugs, and was just let out of a mental health facitilty last week. She has been cutting herself, drinking, doiing drugs, and having many sexual partners. These behaviors went on as recently as last night even after being let out of the hospital 3 days ago.
My mom and my sister asked my father if she could come stay with me for awhile. My sister thinks that the time away from our parents and her friends will help her mental health.
My dad got angry and pretty well disowned her. I asked my mother tonight what the court orders are. She says that they both have joint custody with my mom getting summer vacation.
So my question is, is it ok for my sister to live with me and not my mother for the summer? My dad seems pi$$y enough to make this a big deal so I don't want to be caught in the middle.

I want to do the right thing by my sister and help her however my children here come first. I don't want to be accused of harboring a runaway or any similar offense.

Thanks,
Sarah

Do you honestly believe that your father would deliberately harm YOU...in this whole process? If you think that's possible then you should probably be having a long talk with your dad. I don't think that you need to immediately panic...because there if absolutely nothing wrong with your mother allowing your sister to have a "visit" with you.

In addition...if your sister is supposed to be spending the summer with your mother its really questionable whether your father could declare her a runaway in any case. If your mother has physical custody for the summer, and your mother both knows and approves where she is...I think that your father might not have a leg to stand on.

Talk to your dad....

My dad and I don't have a relationship. After my parents divorced, I wanted to live with my mom. He has never forgiven me for going to live with her. I'd say we haven't talked since I was in 8th grade.

I guess I may have to get over it and talk to him anyway. I just don't think that he cares whether or not I would get into any trouble.

Thanks for the advice and info. :)
