What is the name of your state?California
Two questions. My first question is do I have to let someone other then my ex pick up our child? Our visitation orders state that respondent shall pick up and drop off child(ex being respondent). Second question is how long do I have to wait for ex to show up for visitation? Thanks! :D

To the first question, if the person is known not to cause either one of you problems or the children, why not??? Don't willfully attempt to incite issues, keep it peaceful in the interest of the children.

I really do not understand your second question.

I always say reverse the situation. If this was me on my way to pick up my son what would I want my ex to do. Treat others as you want to be treated. I try to live by that motto. Extremely hard sometimes I know But in the long run It is the best thing for your child.

Unless your order states specifically that only your X can pick up the child- It's usually up to the other parent's discretion. ie; sometimes family members or a trusted friend will occasionally help out.

If your order does not specify a time frame within which to pick the child up- It's up to the other parent if they exercise their visitation, but it's up to you to have the child available within the entire visitation. If the X is habitually hours late or you are unable to attend planned events because of the repeated problems, you can ask the court modify your order to state an exact time frame. (I had to do that because my nuttyX will play games anyway possible  So, now there is a 1/2 hour leeway and if they don't show up they forfeit). Again, a judge would have to hear the issues and specifically order that kind of restriction.

My ex always picks up...........If he sent someone I knew and trusted it would not be a problem.....If he sent the new GF that I have never met or even know her full name.... not a chance.....As far as pick-up time I have it written in my parenting agreement that if he is more than 30 minutes late he waves his right to visitation for that day.......My parenting agreement is very specific to prevent confrontations....we included all of the "what ifs" that my attorney has seen in her practice as far as contempt issues.
So I guess you could say that we have a rule book of Joint parenting :D

Yes I do try to follow that motto. Here's more info. THe person that my ex has been sending lately to pick up my son is his brother who is an ex-con druggee. This person spent two years in jail on carjacking and has a history of drug abuse and violence. This person has also been late several times. Not just a few minutes here or there. But hours. When he gets here is excuse is ah. sorry lost track of time... LOst track of time? What is that? My ex just says too bad he's family. I've offered to drop off our child to my ex instead but he says no. Just want some options.
