Next step - operation cold war.

Find out something they don't like, something tacky and tasteless (like a backyard jumbotron) but legal...

Next time there is a neighborly chat, ask for mutual detente, (you take down your nuisance and they put their tv where it belongs - indoors.

Also, lobby your local government to prohibit permanent outdoor media installations. (A very reasonable rule.)

so, we make it not permanent by making the mounting base movable.. viola` not permanent, even if you leave it outside all the time. It is a long term temporary installation then.

I actually have the perfect action that would frustrate the neighbor so much he would either negotiate with the OP or shoot him. I can't disclose that though as it too often goes the way of the shooting.

I would so love to live next to the OP. Wars like this are fun.

Camera surveillance systems obviously placed so neighbor can see the camera watching their every move is fun too. Heck, for fun for the technologically gifted, you can make them track any movement in their yard. Nothing more unnerving than having a camera track your every move in your own yard. and you have to make sure there is a little blinking red led light on the camera. ;)

Please tell. This is NJ where we can't use our guns even if we have them.

For the love of God and everything holy.

Stop complaining about your neighbor's TV. Say thank you and buy a remote control for it.

When they are out watching something you don't want to watch - change the channel.

The TV will come down soon enough.

I like that...I could also suggest inviting the whole neighborhood to your back yard to watch whatever they are watching, and to make it as much of a noisy party as possible.

I like how you guys are thinking. The remote control is what I was speaking of previously. OP could set on the porch and shut off the tv or change channels or whatever. If he plays it real cool, he could indiscreetly turn it off and if questioned about it, say: will you go turn it back on, I was watching that, just to throw neighbor off the track.

If the remote would work from inside his house, he could play that game forever. Walking through the living room: ZAP, now we're watching Sesame Street. Walking back through: ZAP, now we're watching some shopping network.

Then, for fun, in the middle of the night, say about 3 am, find some war movie and crank up the volume (not so loud as to damage anything though).

My neighbor must visit this web site because, as of this morning, the screen has been re-oriented to point towards his house.

Thanks for all of your free advice. It was worth every penny.
