I was involved in an accident where a commercial vehicle ran into me. After a year of therapy, epidurals, nerve tests and a discogram,I am told that I may need to have my L5-S1 disc fused.
He explained to me why it would be necessary but there is only one problem;the type of skin I have. I have keloid skin;a condition in which a wound tends to heal with massive scar tissue. I am a little concerned that if I get the procedure done,I may risk paralysis or nerve irritation when the wound heals.
Someone told me that if I do not have it, the commercial vehicle's insurance company will say that I am not really injured and do not want to get better. Is this a true statement?
The reason that I ask is that I am truly concerned about the "long term" possibility of complications that can arise.
