What is the name of your state? MD
Hi everyone I have a simple question. Can someone with some legal knowledge tell me the difference between a charge versus a conviction? Also is pbj a conviction? Is probation a conviction?
When someone is charged with something, they have allegedly committed a crime.
If they are found guilty or plead guilty of that crime, then they have been convicted of it.
"Probation Before Judgment" is when a person pleads guilty or no contest and it puts off any further proceedings, and places the person on probation subject to reasonable terms and conditions as appropriate.
Probation is given as a punishment for the conviction.
