No dad listed, Husband wants to have legal father role!

My daughter was born in 2009. I was not married at the time, I became pregnant after a night out with some friends I had never drank or anything until this night where I met a guy an so on Im sure you can see where this is going, I have no idea who the biological father of my daughter is at all no name or anything, My now husband an I re-connected when i was 3months pregnant he has been there for dr.appts ultrasounds,birth, EVERYTHING he considers my daughter his an loves her just as his very own on my daughters birth certifacte there is no listed father my daughter has my maiden name, Can my husband be added to my daughters birth certifacte as her father?
What can we do?>~ please help~

You can hire an adoption attorney and do the legally correct thing, instead of trying to do a back-door adoption.

and none of the people you were with that night have any idea who the dad may be? Dont expect a judge to just allow you to give the child to another man without making an effort to find the real dad. You may have to publish something, prove you tried to find dad, etc.

I know when my hubby was added to his daughter's bc, mom and dad both had to signm but they also had to send in a copy of the court order showing paternity.

This will require a trip to an attorney, you will need to publish a legal notice in the area of where you feel the father is located, to properly give him a chance to step up and claim his rights. Only then can you legally proceed with the adoption if no one steps up. And all of that cannot and should not be attempted without a lawyer.
