What is the name of your state? Florida
My father is incapacitated (physically) from a stroke and my sister is his caretaker, in his own home. She now has durable power of attorney without telling anyone. My sister changed the phone to unlisted and will not answer the door when family goes there. This includes me, my brother, the grandchildren and all of my fathers family. I had abuse services go in and see what was going on. They told me he is being well taken care of and does not want to see any family "right now" and since he seems able to make this decision, that is all they can do. This just came about after the DPOA was recorded. My father is the type of person that would sacrafice his happiness not to cause trouble. Is there something we can do? Thank You

As long as your father is able to make decisions, which is what Adult Protective Services found, there is nothing that you can do. How about writing to dad? Leave out the accusations, just be supportive, and tell him how much y'all miss him.

Thanks so much, we were afraid of that. She has been known to hide things so I'm not sure he will even get to read but we will certainly try.

And again, why are you reviving a thread that is FOUR MONTHS OLD. You think the poster is waiting for your irrelevant input?
