Did you pay for this cup of water? Last time I checked, McDonald's don't sell 'cups' of water, but bottles... and they remain sealed too until the customer opens them.

You can get a cup of water from McDonalds...

I have worked at McDonalds. The drinks at the drive-through are dispensed by a machine. when the person taking the order selects "water" at the register, the machine dispenses water into a cup. If I remember correctly, there aren't "water" cups in the machine, just small cups. (There are separately marked cups for water, but the machine only has slots for kids cups, small, med. and large.)

So I don't buy it.

This guy also thinks that when you order water at McDonald's it's PERFECTLY logical to assume they gave you club soda instead. But NOT that they'd screw up and hand you someone else's Sprite.

Club soda. At McDonald's. Because alla sudden they sell THAT?

sure. It's for their new menu item:

McScotch and soda

They're really trying to break out of that rut of being known only for hamburgers.

Actually, McDonald's DOES have club soda in the soda dispenser. At least I think it's club soda. Is that the same as "soda water?" There is a button on the drive through drink machine that says "soda water." It's carbonated, and not flavored. But it's only used to fill a container to soak the lobby soda machine nozzles in after close. It's not given to customers, and there is no way to select it for a customer's order.

that is the base liquid for soda. It is unsweetened, unflavored, carbonated water. Due to how it is carbonated it does have an odd, and to me, unpleasant, taste. It is club soda at it's most basic formulation.

Depending on whose club soda you purchase, there are often a few more ingredients in actual club soda. Canada Dry lists carbonated water (what you would be getting from McD's) plus sodium bicarbonate, sodium citrate, potassium sulfate, and disodium phosphate. Especially the sodium citrate will give you a sour taste which, to me, is very unpalatable.
