Not my fault, and the other guy's insurance company won't talk to me

This is about an accident that occurred
on a one-lane road in California, at a
blind curve. My car was damaged more on
the driver side than on the front. The
damage goes all the way from the
headlight to the driver side door. There
were no witnesses or police. The other
driver and I just exchanged insurance
info and went home. His truck was hardly
damaged.

When I first heard from his insurance
company, they said I was in his lane.
But I was going uphill, and a road sign
says "Yield to uphill traffic". It is
also clearly designated as a one-lane
road. My insurance company's
photographer came and concluded that it
wasn't my fault. I can't get his
insurance company to talk to me further.
Do I need to hire a lawyer to try to
recover the costs associated with this
accident from his insurance company?

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I'm pretty sure a photographer is not qualified to make a determination like this. However, if your insurance company is involved to the level of sending a photographer, you can bet they are in contact with the other insurance company.
