What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

I had signed contract with franchisor in January 08'. I have never received any notice except a phone call from ex-employee of firm that President of company had taken all the money and contracts were no good any more. Now I've learned through another signee that company president has claimed bankruptcy under his name, and most all signees have received two notices of this. I haven't received any notice. Meeting of creditors is this Friday. Is this a good or bad thing that I haven't been notified?

Why would it be a "good" thing??? You have no idea where you stand. Consult an attorney and avoid getting involved in simular situations in future. You have no idea what you're doing.

If he just took the money (as in stole), then it's not discharge-able in bankruptcy, so I would discuss that issue as well as the lack of notice with an attorney. It's going to boil down to how much you spend to chase after your money versus the likelihood of getting it back.

Thank you for your advice. I have spoken with an attorney on this and he said the same thing you spoke of.
