What is the name of your state? Missouri

Do landlords have to give you an advance notice before coming into your apartment or can they just come by and tell you they might be back in a few hours with someone to inspect all the apartments. I always thought they had to give you like 24 hours notice or something.

Thanks

Check your statutes - usually it is somewhere between 12-24 hours notice. Though if they are coming to fix some kind of problem you reported, I don't think they have to give you any notice at all.

Actually, there's no statute in Missouri regarding how much notice is required but 24 hours is generally considered a reasonable amout of time unless it's an emergency. If there's an obvious problem such as a broken oven, clogged pipe, etc..., then the LL MAY be able to get away with a much shorter notice.

I know if i report something. That's what happened they came and fixed something i reported a problem with and then said they migh be back in a few hours with someone to inspect the apartments. I'll have to check my lease, because i think in the lease it says something about it.

Thanks for all the help

In that case, it would seem that technically for an unrelated inspection, they would have to give you reasonable notice to re-enter. I'm curious though, is this an ongoing problem with your LL or is generally respectful of your privacy?

I've only lived their for a few months, but they usually give me at least 2 days notice before coming in. I just didn't feel that it is right that could just come by whenever they want.

Generally speaking, they can't. Since Missouri has no statute, it would appear they've been generous in the past with a 48 hour notice. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes an ongoing problem. Good luck to you.
