NY- divirce not fnal, can I get legally seperated?

What is the name of your state? NY, I am in the process of a nasty divorce. My wife has our son and I am trying to get joint custody, making out divorce drag on. I wantto get on with my life but I am afraid that what ever I get for myself now, she can still take from me in the divorce. Can I file for legal seperation with the child custody situation? We also got a car together before that I cosigned for.. Is there any way to get my name off the tittle so I am not obligated to it anymore, with out ruining my credit? I want it to be over. Is there something else I can do? HELP

Then you go down to the courthouse and file for divorce and full custody. I suggest you get an attorney.

It's going to be easier to get your name off the title to the car than it is the loan. It's not the same thing and it's the loan that will ruin your credit.
