snostar, thanks. at this time should I speak as to why I feel the ticket is unjust, plead my case and hope for the best? or just let the DA ask questions and hope for the best? I don't want to insinuate the da or the officer’s ego.

qcxlvr1, 80 in a 65 is 15 over and 4 points. Violation cited was 1180D on the ticket and deposition.

Maybe, maybe not. If you do not accept the plea offered, and plead not guilty it is possible you will be given a hearing date. Explain your side of the story to the public defender. There is a good chance they will offer a plea with a 2 point violation, you will have to weigh your options and decide if it is worth receiving the full 4 points if you do not suceed.

You should be able to get out of the points. Four you can get out of, six you really need a lawyer to get out of points. I would think you can get "parked on highway," for this.

I'm surprised he stopped you for 80, honestly.

Thanks to everyone for the insight. The Troopers were out in force that day. When he was approaching from behind my vehicle, another trooper had just pulled over a black Saab in the east bound lane directly across from the 184.2 mile marker where I was pulled over. I guess he didn't want to be left out of the action.
