Had total abd. hysterectomy 1/31/00 and found to have severe adhesions, endometriosis, 9 fibroids, and soft ball size ovaries. Discharged after 3 days since "could not get approval of more days from insurance due to holiday (New Years) and had low grade temp since surgery. Ended up in Er 6th post op day due to ileus resolved with enema's & Mineral oil and abd pain and cont fever. Ua done and was told normal and given Pyridium by ER Doc and ObGYN came and sad not surprised by pain, he expected it due to bladder involvement of adhesions. Call office next date as directed but no improvement. Back to ER 7th post of date with temp of 103 and was told has UTI and given antibiotic, pain med and wanted to admit but came home.
Developed severe vaginal drainage 9th post op date and was seen in office following date with exam and dx of vaginal abcess, antibiotic changed and sent home. Sever pain cont and was seen several more times over next two weeks with MD stating "need time to heal" sought 2nd opion out of town with many tests ect done and confirmed healing of abcess but cont to have severe vaginal pain with soime difficulty with constipation requiring Mineral oil. 6 weeks post op had I&D od pubic area abcess. Subsequently had Exploratory Laprosopy 3 mths post (afraid to open up again due to complications) of due to pain and found to have sigmoid colon adheased to vaginal cuff and additional adhesions of (R) colon. Have been told that cont pain/discomfot is probable due to adhsions and will end up with bowel resection. I cont to have pain in abdomen even now that does limit my activites
I have sought counsel with lawyers in my area but they (2) say that it is "not cost productive for their firm"
I got a copy of medical records when sought care by other MD (path report, surgery report, pap smear and abd sonogram done pre-op, discharge summary) and then got full report and in it it had a second discharge summary after the last date I saw my MD and he learned I was seeking care elsewhere, in the second discharge summary he had changed some of the info.
P.S. I am 37y/o
