undefinedWhat is the name of your state?

nc- I found it suprising that my new part-time (20 plus hrs per wk)employer required bloodwk before granting heath insurance(bloodwk required by the 91st day of employmt).

Since my mild chronic leukemia will show up I am concerned that I will not be offered group rate health insurance or charged a much higher premium.

The company explains they are taking steps to control health costs, I understand that, but wonder if this is widespread in large corporations where I thought the risk pool would be large enough to absorb someone like me that requires treatmt every 2 to 4 yrs.

What you may be offered is an individual policy or something that is not "true group". Such plans can require E of I which is usually not the case for true group plans.

If you are a late entrant, even under a true group plan, the carrier can require E of I.

Your employer is not making this requirement (E of I), your carrier is. One has nothing to do with the other.

Since E of I is apparently required in this situation there is a good chance (based on info posted) you will be denied coverage.

Just a quick question thanks for the reply, what does e of l stand for?

Sounds like I had better keep my COBRA active.

I am active now with cobra!

So that should take care of my Evidence of Insurability??

I know I have a certificate of coverage that was mailed to me from a prior employer, I am hoping that may require them to give me group coverage at a reasonable rate.

Just wait and see at this point....but I will keep my cobra active just to be safe and call the cobra cust svc also.

Your COBRA + earlier coverage should count on getting you by the pre-ex issues if this is a HIPAA plan . . . but it may not be.

Asking for a specimen, asking health questions, are indicative of something other than what normally passes for "true" group insurance.

Is everyone asked to provide E of I or just the part-timers?
