There is no reason that I can see for you to tell any employer or prospective employer about the girlfriends you had in your youth - based on what you have said here, at least.

Only because they asked. As I said in my first post there are were obviously two girls that were under 18 when I was 18 and over. One I made out with, one I dated and we had some sexual contact. Parents were aware. The only reason I'm thinking about it is because they ask about it, and obviously I want to be truthful. But, I don't want to incriminate myself if it was illegal. Even if it was many years ago. I know how voracious some prosecutors can be.

No employer or prospective employer is going to pry into your personal life (or is entitled to pry into your personal life) unless you violated a law, were arrested for, were charged with and/or were convicted of a crime.

What sort of security clearance requires that you disclose what you did on dates when you were 18? I cannot think of any.

Not sure. I don't know if it's for a security clearance per se, or just their background check. I have no idea. I've done quite a few background checks and this is the first time I've been asked something like this.

I don't know what the laws in Japan and the US were when you were 18.

I guess that, if both sets of parents approved of your dating relationships, and all you and your girlfriends did was consensual, and no police complaints were filed, or arrests or charges or convictions resulted that would show on your criminal record, this is a nonissue.

Lol, exactly. That's my point though. I never even gave it a second thought, because it was all consensual, until I was asked this odd question - with the caveat of if the potential candidate has a past serious misdemeanor or felony the information will be turned over to the agency with jurisdiction.

As I said, I haven't been concerned with it, all I wanted to know is if it would be classified as a felony or misdemeanor or nothing... I don't want to apply and incriminate myself.
