OT, little help here!

This would be happening in Florida.

Most of you know that my x and I get along. I'm posting this for him and not quite sure where to put it. Since I hang out here, I figure you guys could help him.

My x is in Florida where his brother and family live. His "wife's" family lives there as well. Arrangments were made between brother and wifes family to split the cost of airfare for x, wife and baby to come and visit. X was to spend a week with his brother to help them move into their new home while wife immediately went to her family. Brother's wife asked x to stay longer as moving wasn't quite finished, he agreed. Couple of more days went by and x's wife and her father were to come and get x to finish vacation out with her family. Brother's wife wanted him to further extend his time with them and he said no as he wanted to be able to meet and spend time with his wife's family. Brother's wife is now PO'd and threatening to cancel his return ticket home to NY.

Is there any legal "threats" that he can use if they attempt to pull this on him? He must be back by Dec 7 as we have another court apperance in our GP case. He is worried that she may carry thru on her threat. Any thoughts or advice for him?

My x's sister in law asked him to stay longer due to the fact the move wasn't complete. My x agreed to stay a few more days. When the time was up my childrens stepmother and her father were going to pick my x up from his brothers home. My x's sister in law wanted him to stay even longer and my x said no. This is the first time that my x has met his wifes family and he wanted to get back to his wife and child.

When my x said no to his sister in laws second request, she became irate and threatened to cancel his airplane ticket back to NY. She has paid for 1/2 of the ticket. SM's family paid for the other 1/2 of the ticket.

Is that better? If not, let me know.

How would one cancel 1/2 of a ticket?
Was your x's brother paying for the 1/2 because your x was helping with the move? If that is the case, than your x fulfilled his part of the agreement and I can't see how they could legally cancel the ticket!

I asked my sister this question because she works for a major airline. The only one who can change this ticket is the person who's name the ticket is in. If the ticket is in your x's name since he is the passenger, he is the only one who can change it. BTW for your info once the ticket has been used it cannot be canceled.

The airline may or may not even change the flight date if needed but if you read the small print that is totally up to the airline.

Was your x's brother paying for the 1/2 because your x was helping with the move? If that is the case, than your x fulfilled his part of the agreement and I can't see how they could legally cancel the ticket!

X's family and SM's family discussed and decided to split the cost of the two tickets (not sure if baby had to have a ticket as he is only 11 months. I believe SM had him in her lap). The move didn't work out quite as planned and SIL asked my x twice for him to stay on. He agreed the first and said no to the second. I believe argument will be that they paid for the ticket and can cancel it.

The problem is that they are privy to his SSN cause they bought the ticket using thier card. His brother is trying to put his foot down. He's a wimp however and wifey is going to cause a ruckus until he gives in.

I honestly don't think that they can....particularly based on the other response you got above. That sounds like a good idea. Mostly we're just worried about him getting home on time for court. As you know it's been delayed twice now and I don't think the court is going to stand for much more.

Has already been used for travel to one destination. It cannot be canceled now.
