Did you read the above post where they have dad going to get JR on mom's time and mom said no. That was my point, that that case wasn't applicable here.

I don't recall Mom saying it was her time. She said she didn't KNOW which weekend was his and which was hers. Bit of a difference there, eh?

Our discussion was on the extra curricular activities, and stuff children my want to do and mom 'couldn't' call dad to even ask, part of this thread. This past is a different problem, and still different from what the other poster (not OP) was talking about with dad coming and getting child on mom's time.

Hence why hijacking threads and going off on tangents is such a lousy idea (I'm just as guilty).

And her ex is not a judge. She CAN contact him, regardless of his directives. She chooses to use those directives as an excuse.

Um, yea, tried that - contacting him anyway. He considered ANY form of contact harassment and filed contempt charges on me.

Even though the magistrate found me not in contempt because we SHOULD be communicating - my X got the result he wanted

Several thousand $$$ out of my pocket.

Are you getting it yet?

This has nothing to do with the parenting plan, communication or the chidlren.

My X sets up rules (and the change frequently) to set me up so he can file contempt charges. EVEN THOUGH he knows I won't actually be found in contempt - the name of the game is to use my money til I have either crack under the financial pressure and give him the kids or declare bankruptcy and lose my home and have to give up the kids.

That is why we are going to court next week on a contempt charge that I went ahead with the braces without his concent. Actually, all I had was a consultation and then I contacted him with the information - never expecting that he would say NO. We have known since child was 4 that she would need braces at about this age.

If you failed to get a second opinion (or second pricing) he has every right to say no. Needing them vs. needing to get them right then, from that particular provider, without checking out other options are two different things. I live in a very affluent suburb, and several of the parents I know who are dealing with braces all stated that the opinions of to what extent to do bracses, and costs, varied widely between several respected providers. Those parents said they felt seeing more than one provider BEFORE deciding was well warranted. Just because she needed them does not mean you should not need to do proper due diligence and consult more than ONE opinion, and obtain more than one price.

I would have been happy to get a second opinion. But after I told him about the first one - his reply was that he was not going to pay for braces (or anything else for that matter) until we had a new parenting plan which won't be settled in the near future because we have to get thru the contempt charges he filed and the outcome of custody.

We HAVE a parenting plan in place.

This is the right time. My daughter starts Jr. high in the fall. A new school with a bunch of new kids. Different schedules - LOTS of changes.

This way she would have the summer to get used to the braces before all these other changes.
