My 21-year old daughter is pregnant stemming from a brief relationship with a young man in college. She has decided to have the baby, and she has recently moved back home with us. The young man and his parents have said they want nothing to do with the baby for fear of it interfering with his college and career plans. My daughter has accepted their decision.
My question is two-fold:
1) Even though the father has opted out of his parental responsibility -- and we have consented -- doesn't he still have some financial responsibility?
2) How does one go about making his decision to not be part of the child's life legally "official?"
Thanks you
