What is the name of your state?missouri
There is no real reason for my question other than curiosity, if you sign away your parental rights do you still have to pay child support? If not what keeps eveery mother or father from just signing away their children? Thanks for the input

I am very friendly and kind and give thoughtful advice when others give up. The law is not always friendly, it is meant to be impersonal and Just.

I dont mean to keep posting on irrelavent things, i am just beginning my legal classes to become a paralegal so I am just inquisitive.
You are paying good money for your paralegal class, we are not the student, you will learn by doing your own research and the rules of the forum ask that you search the site for your question and if you cannot find an answer, then post your question.
How do you think the professionals on this site gained their knowledge?

I did search, I didnt find what I was looking for. The other answers were not satisfactory to what I wanted to know. I do appreciate replies, however I dont wish to waste time arguing. Thank you

I'm sorry...I'm not a lawyer or a paralegal student, nor have I ever been in this type of situation personally and even I know the answer to your question! How do I know? FROM READING THIS FORUM! If you didn't find the answer to your question, you didn't look hard enough! As stated, this question has been asked and answered many times...at least the way you stated the original question. If you are looking for something different, you need to post a different question!

Just so you don't have to come back whining that you're being picked on, I'll answer your question...again, not as a lawyer, a paralegal, or any other kind of legal eagle - just someone who has learned from this forum.

No, you cannot sign away your parental rights just to get out of paying child support. You know why? Your second question answers it - because the courts would be jammed with deadbeat parents willing to sign away their rights in order to avoid paying support!

If Mommy doesn't like Daddy and wants her new squeeze to be "daddy," she has to have him adopt the child. The biological daddy will only be "allowed" to sign away his rights in a situation like that - where there is someone else ready, willing, and able to step up and take care of the child.

There...I have answered your question - I believe correctly.

You're welcome.

THANK YOU, I belive Ill find another site where no matter what you ask you are not constantly harrassed. So what if I asked the same question as 200 other people, The sad thing is that you among others have nothing better to do than to sit here day after day reading them all, maybe that is why you are all so uptight because you have nothing better to do. I started out very friendly and got attacked right off the bat. You should all really loosen up I mean why do you have so much free time to sit on here if you are all such imporant knowledge filled professionals? I think someone needs to realize that this forum is not a life support system, if someone asks a question you have already answered a million times just dont answer it, move on to the next one..Really, come on. I know I will get a lot of flack for my comments, look at it this way, If everyone agreed and got along you guys wouldnt have anyone to attack or anything to post about.. So Im giving you something to do...YOUR WELCOME!

Hope I passed. :D

Since she's looking specifically for Missouri answers though, her best place is to go to the Missouri statutes. Isn't this something they first teach you in paralegal school? Statutory references, case law, and such?

Some states do end child support when parental rights are given up. But... she'll have to search for Missouri's laws on this becasue if I'm gonna help with homework, I'm gonna help someone I KNOW.

*winkwink*

:p ;)

And yes they do teach you how to find specific state statutes almost immediately... Well, let's just say I've only been in class for 8 weeks and we learned that in week TWO.

Since you're willing to help I'm still about 500 words short on that memorandum!! :p

Hell, just write out the course curriculum for her for the next semester.

The way she is, THAT will be 1800 words. LOL

May not be "on subject"... but... :p
