Parking Tickets on my credit report ?

What is the name of your state?California How is it possible for the city of San Diego to submit parking ticket fines that are more than 30 days late as charge offs on my credit report? This is ruining my credit score. If I have violated no credit agreement with them and they have not extended credit to me , how can they report fines and make it look like I`ve been late paying on a credit agreement? They are simply manipulating the credit reporting agencies in order to to fill their city treasury. This is unfair to consumers and misleading to lenders.

Parking Tickets Ruining My Credit Report

California.

I have the same problem with the City of San Diego listing parking tickets as an unpaid debt and lowering my FICO score.

Does anyone know if this has been challenged in court? I don't understand how the City of San Diego gets away with this as I do not have a credit agreement?

Please help?

I've had problems with unpaid parking tickets however they showed up on my CR from a collection agency hired by city to collect them.It was a PITA to clear up because they get you when you go to get next years tabs, when the city is working with the DOL. Not to be facetious but the credit report should just as well be called a debt report since any and all debts paid and unpaid can showup on the report..credit cards, loans, utility bills, bad checks, etc. hopefully someone with more experience will be along to provide a more legal basis for your situation..

Guys -- pay the damn parking tickets.

California law allows this (many states do). It is one of the ways to catch scofflaws like you.

If you don't want it to hurt your credit score, pay up.

Otherwise, write the gubernator -- but I bet he won't care.
