Paternity question

Well, I'm sorry if you think I was insulting you. I replied in response to your comment. Too many times people get jumped on for not giving enough information. Now you're here saying, "Read between the lines!" And trust me, I'm not griping and moaning. I'm a mom and understand where she's coming from, but since she didn't give the details on this dad, I didn't want to jump to conclusions and automatically assume he doesn't deserve his kid. I felt the same as you as soon as I heard he was in jail, but like I said...there were no details as to why. I also would never want my children visiting their parent in jail...and I would assume that the parent IN jail might feel the same way.

You were right about the whole thing. Sorry. Obviously this dad isn't all he definitely should be.

pk13 - if you really want to prolong this that is your choice. If it comes down to paternity then by contesting it you are saying you do not know who the father is (aka slut). You will also be likely to pay for 1/2 of the testing costs. Many county courts in NY have a nearby facility that will collect blood samples for the DNA test - it is likely you will be ordered to appear for the sample collection within a few days. The results are received by the court within 4-6 wks. So you really may not prolong it much. Incarcerated parents do get visitation, and since the father filed in court it will no longer be up to you but a judge to decide. Speak to a local attorney as soon as possible.

You are right...why prolong the inevitable. There is no doubt he's the father, none at all. I know incarcerated parents get visitation, and I have spoken with an attorney. He will need to find someone suitable to both of us to bring our son up there, and no one from his family will do it. And he is two hours away...and my son is only almost three, and he was only in his life for four months. There is a myriad of things they look at. It probably won't happen, but I am getting all my ducks in a row. Thanks for your answer.
