What is the name of your state? TN
In Nov. 2004 found out by paternity test that I was the father of an eight year old, where another man was named as the father on the birth certificate. The child lives in TN & I live in AL. I spent 1 month with the child this summer. After this visit, the mother sent papers to me requesting child support. My court date in Nov. 29th in Chattanooga, TN. I would like to complete this matter by the end of this year. What are my legal right since I have never been named the father legally & someone else has been? Can she get child support from me without him giving up his rights as her father? How can I find an attorney there? Any advice will help.

I will help you out and suggest 1 attorney that you NOT use. Lucy Wright. This woman has her head completely up her a$$. Yes you should have an attorney, because Hamilton County will chew you up and spit you out like it's nothing, especially if you try to represent yourself. Your best hope for visitation is Judge Thomas in Division 4, he's very fair and has had it lately with women on power trips. CS is going to be dealt with in a completely different court on Holtzclaw Avenue which is almost next door to the CS office itself. Also aquatint yourself with your case worker, you will be talking to them a lot to straighten out your case once they screw it up. Good luck to you. Also I would suggest attending each and every court date if possible, never know if your attorney will actually show up like they are supposed to ( my DH's ex didn't) so she lost the 3 motions that were being argued. Hence why Ms. Wright has her head up her a$$, she also called into court that she would be unable to attend 4.5 hours late!!

She said she wanted the paternity test done because she and the child's "father" were no longer together and she wanted her child to know her real father.

Since the paternity test results have proven you to be the father you will be obligated to pay CS once ordered. You need to file for visitation and also within that hearing ask that the child's birth certificate be altered to have the other man's name removed and yours placed. As stated you really need an attorney to help you out with all of that.
