You Are Guilty

Thanks for all the pointers and clarifications. I'll probably use the "post case to lawyer" button.

What is meant by residual injuries?

Thanks.
Permanent injuries that will affect you for the rest of your life. Pain, loss of range of motion, neurological deficits, loss of erectile function ;), etc. (As opposed to say, a simple fracture that healed in 6 weeks with no difference than before it was broken).

fcobarr,

If your claim is clear cut (fault, damages in excess of policy limits, etc.), and you won't be following through on a law suit unless absolutely necessary, you might be able to find an attorney to work for his/her hourly rate rather than the usual percentage. If you need to pursue a suit and the threat of one doesn't bring the insurance company around, then it should move to a percentage basis. This is what we were able to do with a substantial claim my son had as an injured passenger in a vehicle driven by a friend who was the at-fault driver. It never hurts to ask. Good Luck!
