My mother has the protective order. Our court date was for an extension, which she got.

She is incredibly upset about losing the cat. I can sympathize with her and don't want to lose the cat either. I think I would take it better than her, but I'd still be sad. Also, your comment about starving children could be used against anyone who complained about ANYTHING in the history of the world that was less important than starving children. You're trying to make me sound like a selfish person, but obviously that's not the case if I'm concerned about my pet (family). If the law considers pets as property, it doesn't mean I'm going to make that my personal belief. They're here to give love and receive love, and maybe I'm just not narrow minded. I have to accept the law's take on the issue, but I really expected a more mature response from an actual pet owner and "senior member" (BeliezeBreeze). Why pick on people who aren't as familiar with the law as you?

Not trying to "pick" on people. Just trying to get priorities straight.

Buy a NEW KITTEN and MOM will be fine in a week!!! :D :D :D

I got both of my cats there...and they are wonderful!! Black males ....one had a defect in his heart and died at 3 years old...just one of those things..one min running and playing and the next ...he died...My daughter was heartbroken...we all were...Thank goodness we had the other cat...that helped a lot...But I gotta say...Its a cat...the pain of his loss was bad...but not like if it were a child!! I can't even imagine a pain that bad!! And I don't want to...:(

My immediate family has gone through some "hard times" over the years. Great grandparent's lost a "son" , Uncle lost a "son", Grandparent's lost a "son", MY Parent's lost a son (my only sibling 37-years-old)) last November. I have a "son"!!:( :(

It's reminiscent of the "Kennedy's"

OP: You are worried about a frigging cat???

kookaburra dont be too offended by belizebreeze, you are not the only one he or she is rude with so i wouldnt take it too personally.just check other posts for verificaton of this. belizebreeze has a superiority complex..thinks he or she, whichever the case may be , is better and smarter than everyone else.i feel certain that derogatory remarks will be posted about me by the breeze when this is read. not that i care, she(or he) is just letting someone else rest for awhile while i am the target.

It doesn't matter how you feel about BB's attitude. It doesn't change the fact that the OP is talking about a freaking CAT like it's a child.

OP - If you feel that strongly about the matter, hire a lawyer and sue for "custody" or at least "visitation" with the cat. If you really lucky, maybe you can even get the judge to order pet support. But before you do, take a few hours and volunteer at a women's shelter or a children's group home. You might just realize that your time, money and energy can be much better spent trying to solve REAL problems.

apparently from other posts on here and other forums on this website as well i am not the only one with dislikes for belizebreezes attitude. everyone on here has the same rights to express their opinions as the breeze does .we are NEVER all going to agree on everything, that is a reality , but , kindness and compassion to others needs and hurts and problems would be nice. what is considered important to one may not be as important to the next, we are all different ,but, the fact that someone is hurting and seeks advice, whether its trivial to us or not,its certainly not trivial to them or they wouldnt be seeking advice on this forum. i am a firm believer that we do indeed reap what we sow. the laws of seedtime and harvest doesnt apply just to plant growth. there are many that are planting seeds that best be praying for a failed harvest.

I'm a firm believer in karma, but this isn't www.shouldertocryon.com . Sympathy and compassion aren't what a person needs when they are dealing with real legal problems. Honest straight forward information, no matter how harsh it seems, it what they need. If they can't take a few judgemental remarks from total strangers on the net, they'll never make it though a court battle.

honest sraightforward information can be given in a respectful manner as well. i realize thats not always easy to do when you feel that the question you are answering is in your own opinion not all that important. following the "golden rule" wouldn hurt any of us. we all want our problems to treated as if they are as important to others as they are to us. you know we are all the same and all different at the same time. thats what makes us all unique.

You really need to save your MORAL debate for a religious website. You won't get anywhere trying to use it HERE. As far as the LAW is concerned, the only relevent "golden rule" is the one that says, "he who has the gold, makes the rules".

Yep, everyone has the right to be stupid. I agree. Especially someone who doesn't know the first thing about the law.

The cat is legally property. PERIOD. And if mom can't show PROOF that the cat belongs to her alone, the court is bound BY LAW to either make a final determination as to OWNERSHIP whether that be the father, the mother or cut the damn thing in half and give each party their share.

And NOTHING changes that.

yes bb you have proven that is indeed fact ,everyone has the right to be stupid,or at least act stupid , point well taken , i see it every time you post. and what i have said on this post really isnt a "moral" issue , its a humane issue , no one deserves to be talked down to the way you speak to people , you need a kindness pill or something. your aggressive, assertiveness may just be a way that you deal with an "inferiority" complex. stranger things have happened, like it would be real strange if you were nice to others , which is something YOU know absolutely nothing about. they do have medication out there for people wih anger issues.under all that gruff exteior of yours you just MIGHT be a really nice person. NAH !!!!! i'd watch that planting and harvesting thing as well, you sure do water and fertilize a lot , whats it goiing to be ,a "good" return or a "bad" return . only you can control that ! and ceara you have absolutely no idea who really owns the gold and makes the rules. you two reply however you want here..i have made my "closing" statement..although i know it will only open you 2 up for your "opening" statements.
