Please Help Possible Technicality on Moving Voliation Summon

Hi All:
I was issued a speeding ticket in PA today. The cop itemized the fines on the summon. However, he sum it incorrectly to have additional $10 in the total. I heard any mistakes on a ticket will result in void. Can somebody give me a hand here to validate that statement? Thank you very much!!!

i never heard of that, but it's possible. it doesn't sound likely, b/c i wouldn't think the officer's math is the kind of police mistake that would void your ticket. i'd investigate it some more though. and don't listen to homeguru....he's a complete retard.

HG is correct. An officer's math error does not mean you didn't commit the offense.

Your question has to many variables to be answered sensibly.

However, I will give you one example: if a ticket does not have a statute number on it, that may perhaps render it void.

Isn't the term for a mistake that will void a ticket called a fatal flaw. I think ive heard that somewhere. Maybe on here....but if I remeber it right a fatal flaw is a mistake that would prevent you from defending yourself against the charge. Such as seniorjudge said a missing statute number which is what I am facing in court on the 24 of march....unfortunatly he decided to add the statute number on the copy he submitted to the court so it seems to me that that would be a forgery....but the chances of it getting thrown out in a small louisiana court aren't likely....so im prepared to serve a night or two in jail to settle the fine....what sucks is the next day is my girls birthday....but hey ill be able to afford her a better gift when i get out right LOL. oh man shes gonna kill me either way if i spend her bday in jail or not buy her a good gift cuz im laying down a few hundred on a ticket.....wish me luck everyone LOL

A: The ticket filed with the court is the official one; the copy you have is just that: a copy.
