I am a U.S. Citizen. I recently married my boy friend in August. We have a son(born in U.S.A.) and I'm expecting . We reside in Wisconsin. He came here illegally across the Mexican border with only his birth certificate. He has been here for over 3 years. We have very little money right now and can not hire a attorney. My questions are what is our next step? How does he get a social security number so he can work. How long could this take?

Unfortunately he can not. Illegally entering the US is the one time where there is no normal way of adjusting status to become a permenate resident.

You need an attorney, or he needs to continue to lie and do illegal things. One day they will catch him and he will be deported.

There is no form or procedure that he can file that will enable him to remain, legally, in the US and work.
