The children in this situation live in GA. Two years ago my aunt died of cancer. She had four children and three grandchildren who all lived with her. A few months after she died her husband remarried. The ages of her children are 25(disabled), 23(3 kids) college student, 19 college student, and 12. The 23 year old now lives in her own home. But her children are no longer allowed to come into the family home (that her mother paid for). The children do not have food in their home, so the 23 year old has to cook for all of them. The 23 year old does not have a job, but she has to cook for all of the daily and her father refuses to give them money. Or even buy them food for her to cook, since he and his wife will not cook for them. the 25 year old, 19 year old and 12 year old all get SSI checks, but they are never allowed to get anything with the money.
The new wife has been married 4 times to preachers, the father of these children is also a preacher. I would like to know what my cousin can do to protect her siblings. She thinks that this woman is trying to get money from her father and leave him. Now her father gives money to his step daughter who is 25, but will not give any to his own children. When my aunt died, she had over $100,000 in life insurance. She always wanted to put her children through school, but now he uses their money for school and makes the 23 year old pay her own way through school. These are my questions is there anything that she can do to make her father give her money for her siblings? What can she do to protect the money that her mother intended to be used for them if the new wife leaves and tries to take the money?
HE did buy the 23 year old ahouse since they were not going to be allowed in their home anymore, so I guess he's not all bad.
