Possesion of cannabis seeds

I need to know what the law is in Illinois, in regard to possesion of cannibas seeds only. What the penalty could range from if it is in fact illegal. I collect seeds and was told to investigate the issue before I purchased them for my collection. I do not use marajuana nor do I intend to use these seeds for cultivation purposes.

Cultivate? That means you'll be growing, right? That is hella illegal. Although I don't know for a fact, I am fairly certain that a simple possession of the seeds would land you some legal trouble as I've seen several examples of people getting cited when the cops found a couple stems in their car. And growing is a whole other issue in and of itself. You're better off not bringing these into your collection.

To OP:

According to your state's "Cannabis Control Act," possession of 2.5 grams or less of Cannabis, which according to your state's legal definition, includes the seeds is a Class C Misdemeanor. Most states do...maybe not Alaska or California.

Don't you have a collection of seeds somewhere in your home? Isn't it perfectly normal for people to collect different types of seeds that they never intend to plant? What seed collection could possibly be complete without the rare cannabis specimen?

I'm slugging down coffee as fast as I can. If you start a collection of seeds be sure to check the laws in your state first. I'm sure that it isn't a big deal to have just the seeds sitting around somewhere in this great nation.

He would have to take care to have appropriate protection against fire. He wouldn't want his budding collection to go up in smoke because then he might inhale and we know where that could lead.
