I work in the medical field as a secretary where I basically sit at a disk and assist patients by phone all day long. I have been here for almost 2 years, and I am also a full time college student. I told my Administrator 2 weeks ago that I am pregnant. I believe I am being harassed by my Lead about having to get up and use the restroom. I was gone for about 15 minutes in the restroom, (which is normal for a pregnant woman sometimes!) and when I got back she was harassing me asking me "where have you been, you were gone a long time, you cant keep going to the restroom all the time" In the mean time there is a patient standing at the front desk listening to her ream me. I was not only embarresed, but in shock that she was yelling at me for taking too long in the restroom. There is no rule about how long, asking for permission, or when you can take restroom breaks in our handbook ANYWHERE. I told my administrator about this incident and she said I need to go to the restroom on my breaks only, because she needs me at my desk at all times answering phones. She said I cant take that long in the restroom. This is one serious issue I would like to know more about. Can she harasse me about going to the restroom when I am pregnant??
Another issue is the following day, my lead approaches me and tells me that as of Jan 1 05, part time employees have PTO time which will exhaust when I am out sick and for Doctors appointments. I am part time so I have very few hours to exhaust. She then said that after my hours are up she will not approve any more of my doctors appointments. My OBGYN is following me closely through this pregnancy, so I have 2 a month, I also have to see a pulmonary specialist. These are all required by my doctors, is she allowed to tell me I cant go to my doctors appointments??? Then she told me she is revoking my 2 weeks vacation that she approved 2 months ago for my wedding. I have her approval on paper with her signature, can she revoke it now??? I feel they are coming after me for everything so they can fire me or I quit. Is the things they are doing legal??
