What is the name of your state? Texas
I recently received a call stating that when my previous employer was contacted the new office manager stated that my work performance was unacceptable, that I was fired, was given numerous verbal and written repremands, and that overall I did not perform my duties. Needless to say none of this is true, I have a letter of recommendation from the physicians, it was a mutual decision I was not fired, I worked for the company for more than 5 yrs, she was with the company 2 months and the person that replaced me was a friend of hers as she had told me she wanted to hire when I still worked for the company. Furthermore she has no signed repremands verbal or written.
The company that received her e-mail and telephone response provided a copy of the false information given and on a 3-way confirmation with the former physicians, she confirmed that the information the manager had given was untrue.
How may I stop this as I am currently looking for employment and fear she will give this information to a prospective employer? Is she personally liable or is the practice she manages liable? or both? Is there a case for slander or defamation?
I would appreciate any advice. Thank You .......pshef
