Probation or not?

Ok, I was arrested for possession of marijuana with a friend. We were caught smoking, but we had just finished what was left so they arrested us just because of the bowls we were using. I had my court date and I'm only 17 so I didn't pay any fines and my lawyer and the judge both said that if I mess up within 6 months that this will in fact go on my record but if I don't it won't. I don't know whether or not I'm on probation though because I was never issued a probation officer or received any of the paper work that I suppose would come along with it. They just said if I get into trouble. So, is that probation or not?
