Not other 'different' complaints, but the same complaints with other agencies yes. I think ODOL is 90 days or so, should I file with them to or is that like stepping on the EEOC's toes? What other agencies should I file with if any? (rubbing ointment on cbg's head, it gets banged alot!) :)

IF you believe you have been discriminated against/terminated for a reason prohibited by Ohio law, the parallel state agency of the EEOC is the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, you have generally 180 days to file a complaint.

If your claim is based on men being prohibited from wearing long hair, I would need to research it, but it is unlikely you are protected??


Sure discrimination based on SEX is prohibited, but although I live in Ohio, I do not know that much about Civil Rights laws as asked.

Your best bet is either consult an attorney or research the law yourself.

Ok thanks cbg. Since im not sure how this all works, heres what I keep trying to get at, I remember the EEOC asking what was the last discriminatory act etc., that was my termination, so I am assuming thats what my charge is correct? That is the discriminatory act I filed for. But I know theres other acts prior to that which are very discriminatory also and they are linked to my case now. But those were some time ago (close to the 180 day mark) and I dont know if I need to file for those to and with who before time runs out. Theres so many other charges that sound like can be made...hostile work invironment, retaliation etc.. I know EEOC will be dealing with my termination act but will time run out on the other acts if time runs out for other agencies?

Thanks BOR, I just dont want it to be said to me later by the EEOC or whoever "oh that happened to you to? You should have filed for that to but its to late now since you waited." These other acts are related to my situation now, how I was threatened and intimidated into not pursuing my right to reasonable accomodation which in turn lead to my performance issues which led to being fired under the pretext of something else ONCE they discovered the were going to have to make accomodations for me. Within no time I was fired for something younger, abled workers have not been fired for. I have had no warnings or prior incidents of it.

They ask when the last discriminatory act was so they can tell if you are still within the time line to make a complaint. It does NOT mean that only the last act of discrimination will be acted upon. You do not need to make a separate claim for each act.
