Question About Criminal History Report

I am working on building evidence for a child custody case and I ran a background check on my ex, knowing that he has some criminal history.

I first ran his SS# and came up with nothing. He had been adopted as a small child and changed his last name back to his birth name a few years ago. I ran a check on his adoptive name and came up with his list of charges. I knew about most of them, which were back from 92/93. He also had some drug charges in Missouri that he supposedly got out of by agreeing to stay completely out of trouble for the next 5 years.

He was arrested twice in Oregon. Once for criminal mischief in the first degree, which was APPARENTLY settled and another time for punching out a guy in a bar. No one at the bar would talk and he supposedly got out of those charges.

When I ran the background check, I found these records:

I am ASSUMING these are from summer of 2010 in Oregon, although I didn't know about the possession charge. In any case, I'm also taking a gander that the Case Type being Dept. of Corrections means he's in some big trouble for breaking his probation?

Can I get public records on these cases? Police reports, etc? Any light to shed as to why these records weren't dated and handled by the county courts like the first 17?

More to the point though, what do you think this information is going to do for you in a custody case?

I'm assuming because...he was arrested twice in summer/fall of 2010. The case numbers from 92/93 (and there's lots 17 of them) are numbered beginning with 92xxxxx, while the other two case numbers begin with 94xxxx, so I'm guessing they were further down the road.

One of the things I'm trying to determine is if they are for sure after his arrest in Kansas/Missouri...that would be the only reason I can think of as to why he case type would be "Dept. of Corrections." But I don't know for sure...which is why I'm asking here

What purpose will it serve? He has a volatile and criminal past. My daughter will turn a year old this week. He last saw her in July and hasn't paid a dime. CS is about to go through and the second it does, he will file for full custody. I'm not dealing with a sane and rational person. He is an excellent liar, grew up in foster and state care and I've read report after report on him about how he outsmarted every therapist and case worker he "worked" with. People who have known him for a long, long time believe he managed to get his adopted dad falsely convicted of child molestation years ago. He is smart, he is cunning and he is dangerous. I want to have my ducks in a row.

How you managed to obtain confidential reports about him is beyond me, but okay.

Here's the thing.

He had a criminal history before you had a child with him; you were expected to practice due diligence in choosing a father for your child. The fact that you either didn't know, didn't look, or anything else won't matter too much; you've told the court (and the rest of the world) that you accepted him and his past.

He's not obliged to pay you a cent until there's a court order telling him to do so. With that said, if he files for full custody, he's going to fail - but that has nothing to do with his criminal history really.

It's because you've been your child's primary caregiver all this time and the court prefers the status quo.

He WILL get some sort of visitation though, if he files.

yet, you gave birth to his child.

if this is all in the past, you consented to this man being the father of your kid, and now your all, "hes dangerous".

not to dangerous to sleep with, then share a kid with. (I bet that was his appeal.)

What service did you use for background check?

Did you go through the police or did you use one of those companies on the internet that claims they do background checks?

Those internet background companies are full of errors and are a scam.

I ran myself through a popular internet background company. They showed that I'm a black male (I'm not) and that I'm currently serving time on drug charges in 4 different states (at the same time) and that I've been selling drugs as early as 4 years before I was born.

I then disputed the reports. They claimed they would actually go to the courts and double check and it will take a few weeks.

3 days after they told me that, I called them and told them to hurry up. a few days later I received a letter from them saying they deleted all the entries.

(even though they had said it would take several weeks).

That tells me:

1.) their info was unreliable to begin with and they knew it and ...

2.) they just took my word for it and deleted all that w/o putting any effort into a real investigation.

If you find something on someone, you need to actually go to each court and get verification.
