Personally, I think that YOu are trying to fool people as you clearly can't be that stupid and still be breathing.

Oh, and don't worry, I spend a fair amount of time in Louisiana (in fact, going there this weekend for a poker tournament), and yes, I do know several state troopers!!

stupid about what ,enjoying the country.
I am a country girl ,I love being in the country!
and I was trying to be funny about the PJ thing,I normally do not drive with my scooby doo PJ's on. :p
and I thought the guy was pretty stupid to ask me where I was headed when I just told him I had my PJ's on.
You are just silly :)
wouldn't it be a lot more interesting to have intelligent conversations with people than hide behind your computer saying stupid things that you will be accountable for?
Really, you would be surprised if you really got to know people instead of put them down.
see ya
I have errands to run :)

Considering what people think is appropriate to wear out.....

And in all honesty, I suspect that your boys have been involved in a hell of a lot more than one pipe and a stolen net for the cops to be keeping a close eye on them.

no not really it is just small town mentality.
If your muffler on your car is too loud (boys) you get stopped, that kind of thing.
and BTW the net wasn't stolen, that had absolutely nothing to do with anything.(they thought he had drugs  )
A week ago the cops did a drug bust somewhere in this area for meth,so now they are suspicious of everyone.

I really find it funny that yall act like this :)

I know how to handle my sons and I know how to guide them in the right direction.
so isn't parenting the hardest job on earth!

Hey JETX if you see a big van pass you on the interstate, wave it might be me :D

I find it sad that you make excuses. You make excuses such as you live in the south.

Parenting is for sure the most important thing on earth, but my children are not racing home with a cop behind him.

My children are not being watched because of drug issues. You honestly just make excuses for your kids, and I realize you do not see it.

As everywhere, anyone with a criminal offense is going to be watched by the police. Probably even more so when teens and drugs are involved, that way the teens (or criminal of any age) would think twice before meddling with drugs or commit another crime again. Maybe having the cops keeping an eye on him will make him stay on a legal clear path and not end up in trouble with the law again.

Well, before we start dissin' small town mentality, I live and work in one of them thar small country towns. Yes, I've worked the big city before as well, so I'm not quite as provincial as some might be. But, the advantage of that small town mentality is that we tend to know a lot more about what is going on then they do in the bigger areas. Granted a lot of it may be rumor and innuendo, but much of it has some foundation in truth. Whether this is the case in your sons' cases, I couldn't say.

Chances are, if the local cops are watching them, it isn't because the cops picked their names out of a hat ... they became targets of suspicion by the company they keep and/or the acts they have been caught in. Granted, LA is an odd place and law enforcement there is a different animal than much of the rest of the country, but it doesn't mean that they aren't just doing their jobs. And, it coul dbe that everyone else gets the same treatment and your boys aren't the only ones getting some extra scrutiny.

I know of several local boys that if I see them out and about I WILL try and find PC to stop them. Why? because I have good reason to believe that they are up to something not quite on the up-and-up. If I'm wrong, great. I waste a couple minutes and I give them a good excuse to STAY straight - "Dude! You can't smoke that in here, the cops hassle me all the time!"

Anyway, small towns have their advantages.

I do not make excuses for my kids!!
They have told me that one time they ran out of gas ,they had to walk to the gas station .they left one friend in the car ,when they got back with the gas,an officer was there asking the friend "where are the drugs".
They just ran out of gas ,there were no drugs!
The officer would not let them put the gas in the car ,he kept after them about" where are the drugs".
There were no drugs!
Finally my son said "we ran out of gas ,I thought you are suppose to help us.
so finally he let them go.He did not find any drugs!
So what was that about!

like I said I know how to handle my sons and I am trying to help them stay away from a bad crowd.
They know that I have taught them all their lives that pot makes you stupid.
and there is a better way to live.

I know we could go on and on about this but my point is:
are these officers enforcing the law or are they harrassing young people based upon their suspicions or even gossip.
like I said, I have never had this happen before and I thought it was strange.

Hi Carl
You are a breath of fresh air !you are exactly right ,that is my point!
I love a small town, but I have never encountered this attitude before.
I knew that my son was gone for 20 minutes,he was not doing anything wrong.
I thought the officer could of handled the situation a lot better.
They thought he had drugs and was trying to get away from them, but he was speeding because we were waiting on him to bring us the gas.
My son actually saw the officer at the store where he got the gas.
I wished that the officer would have realized that my son stopped in his own driveway and that he would have calmed down and just wrote him a ticket for speeding.
Now if that was me speeding and I decided to pull over in my driveway just down the road, would he have jumped out screaming flight from an officer.
I actually did not see flashing lights behind me one time(too busy talking :D )
and it had to have been at least a fourth of a mile.
the officers were nice to me when I explained I did not see them.

I did tell my sons that if theywould have stayed away from a bad crowd that maybe this would not be happening.and I did tell them that if they would not have done anything wrong to begin with that this would not be happening.
They do listen to me and they are learning.
Thanks Carl for your advice! :)

Hi Carl,I have got a story for you! :)
Well I have been driving my sons car for the past week,so today I asked him to drive to town with me in the car( I had my camcorder with me).
He had gotten a ticket for no insurance(last month),he went to court and they extended it.
Well today we were going to town to settle this and show proof of insurance.
and I wanted to see if we would get stopped because I was going to tape it.
There is no reason for us to get pulled over at all!!
Well guess what!!!
we pass an officer going in the opposite direction,we turn and ended up passing him on another road.
so we watched this officer turn around and start following us!!!
sure enough we stop at about 4 stop signs and he is following us.
so I told my son to go to the store and see if he follows us there.
he turned in right behind us,TURNED HIS LIGHTS ON.
He had no reason to stop us!!!!!
he comes to the window (and I am taping him) and says are you the one with a warrent.
We look at him and say no,He went to court for the no insurance and they extended it.
so by this time the officer wanted to know who I was.so I started taping him and told him that this is harrassment and my son does not have a warrant.
So guess what this officer does!!!!
he says that he has to take him to the office to see if he has a warrant
so I follow them in the car ,down the road with my camera. :D

so I go inside with the camera and they are checking to see if he did not pay any tickets :D
well duh!!! THERE WAS NO WARRANT!!!!He paid his tickets!!!!
So I told this officer ,with the police chief standing there, that this is harrassment and this is not right.you had no reason to stop us.
you know what he said"I saw the car and knew the name so I turned around to see if he had a warrant"
HE HAS NEVER HAD A WARRANT!!!!!HE has had tickets and gone to court and paid them.
So I explained to the officer that how are these kids going to do better with their lives if you treat them this way!!!
THis is making them not like cops!!
My son was very respectful, went along with the officer.
I explained to the officer about other incidents
and that I am a mother trying to help my sons live a better life but what they are doing is not helping.
AND YALL DID NOT BELIEVE ME AND I NOW HAVE IT ON TAPE :D

Hi Jetx
you are so silly :)
but I hope you understand my point in these situations.
If your 'point' is that you are an over-protective, paranoid mother of two sons who have obviously done SOMETHING to get on the local police 'radar'... and you refuse to accept that FACT, yes, I get your point.
If you still believe somehow that the police have so much time on their hands that they are just sitting by the side of the road, waiting for one of your innocent little angels to cruise by in full compliance of the laws just to pick on them, then no, I do not get your 'point'.
In any case, you are clearly blind to the FACTS. So have a hap-hap-happy day and don't run around town in your teddy.

Hi :)
obviously you are just as much an IGMO :) as the IGMO that followed us and pulled us over for no reason :)
I have never gotten a speeding ticket ,I have always obeyed the laws.
so your perception is wrong.
This is small town IGMOs that have nothing better to do than harrass people.
I wanted Carl to comment because he sounds like a wonderful officer.and he gives great advice and he knows what I am talking about. :)
Jetx be careful when you come to Louisiana because a few years back on Dateline they had a story about State troopers deliberately stopping people and seizing their property illegally because they(troopers) wanted to disperse the property among themselves.
so like I said ,you just do this for entertainment !
you just like messin with people! :)
thats ok,God loves you anyway :D

And see, I don't have to worry about those Louisiana troopers. We share what is called "Professional Courtesy". :D

Excuse you, but this type of attitude and conversation is NOT what this forum is for. I read all of your posts, and almost every one of them violate forum rules. Please do not respond with personal attacks, or you will be reported. People come here to get advice, not to be harassed. If that was the case, then the site would be called "www.forum.freeharassment.com, instead of freeadvice.com. Loosen up, dude.
