Update

I visited with my attorney yesterday and we have decided to go forward and requested with my ex's attorney that the court appoint our daughter an amicus attorney.

In laymans terms, this is the difference between the three and then the reasons we are asking for an amicus.

A GAL will serve the best interest of the child.

An Ad Litem will serve the childs wants in an attorney/client manner.

An Amicus will serve our daughters best interest while considering her wants. This doesn't mean that our daughter will dictate her wants, but they will be considered while serving what's best for her.

This also means that there is no attorney/client priviledge for anyone in regards to conversations with the Amicus. Any thoughts or advice on this?

I know it's not legal advice, but does this sound like the best choice for our daughter. She is too young to dictate, but too old not to be heard just a little. Thank you for your help (in advance)

Keeping fingers crossed.

Update:

My attorney tried many times to confer with my ex's attorney so that they could jointly ask the court for the appointment of an Amicus Attorney, but his attorney didn't cooperate.

Today, they are meeting with the judge in regards to the motion for appointment and i'm hoping the judge will agree and order the Amicus for our DD. It wouldn't hurt if he also ordered that my ex pay half, but I can live with the appointment of the Amicus only.

Keep your fingers crossed, too, if you want.
