I live in Toronto, Ontario Canada
(Any general ideas would help)

I recently payed first + last months rent on the 20th of December, to move in Jan 1. However due to reasons beyond my control I was unable to move in at all. Should I get anything back ? Or does the law favour the landlord. I never moved in... and gave to landlord notice on the 26th of december.

Thanks

Not knowning or caring about CA law, I stumble in to the discussion...

Whether you moved in or not, the landlord was probably stuck with an empty apartment because you backed out on him. Why should the landlord be out financially because you broke the agreement?

I was looking for a general idea as I stated above. I know it may not apply in Canada but this would help me decide whether to continue my search.

Thanks for the intelligent response "Some Random Guy"

Other ppl should read the post a little closer....
