I go to traffic court on Thursday the 19th and was wondering if I should ask for a continuance or do I even have a snowballs' chance in . . .? I was given a citation for running a red light (which I did not do) and they (the cops) say they have a witness. There are several events that occured that show that the cops were predjudicial, the facts of the accident do not add up and the "witness" refuses to return calls to my insurance agent. The "victim" was 21 with a rental car and had a baby in the back seat. She t-boned me, never hitting her brakes with a baseball size view of the intersection. The lights are tripped her direction, but only change green after 8 seconds and she would have had to been stopped. And then, the light stays green her direction only 5 seconds. I was never asked my version, just handed the citation and told to sign it by an extremely rude cop, who only replied "we have a witness". The cops also talked to her rental company and assured them that it was not HER Fault. Isn't this inappropriate? Should I fight or what?? The cop was the same race as the "victim" and I am 72. This should not have made a difference, but unfortunatly it did, simply by the way I was treated. I am in Arizona.
