What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Saint Louis, Missouri.
I have a nervous client that rear ended another driver this morning. According to him it was a very slight hit and he immediately pulled over and looked at both cars with the other driver. He was driving his girlfriends car that does not have insurance. There was no cosmetic damage on either vehicle. Although, the other driver insisted that a very slight paint mark was caused by the hit. No police was called. My client gave his telephone number and drivers license. It seemed that the other driver may not have insurance as well but thats not for certain. Later on, the other driver called wanted to find out how he wanted to handle this problem. My client asked him to meet him in the morning at a local police station to file a report and go from there. The other driver seemed a bit not so excited about this idea but agreed.
My questiion is as long as the other driver shows up and files a police report he is doing the right thing from there right? My client is thinking that maybe he should just pay him out of pocket for whatever the other thinks is fair. Ive told him that would be insane and crazy.
Any help?
