Receipt of discharge paperwork

Does anyone know the typical time frame for one to receive there discharge paperwork?
I filed chpt 7 and had my meeting with the court on Oct 20, 04. Took, literally 5 minutes and 2 questions asked. My lawyer said it was then done and over with and all I had to do was wait on the discharge paperwork. Now I realize that every bk is different but is there a typical or average waiting period?

When i first filed the paperwork in September 04 my lawyer told me 60 days from the hearing. Then 2 weeks before the hearing the legal assisitant told me it would be 6 months. I have tried to get a hold of the lawyer himself for an answer with no such luck.

Is ther any way of calling the courthouse or the responsible agency to inquire about the status of the case?

It's 60 days from your 341 meeting. If no creditor raises objections, you're "discharged" from all dischargeable debt on day 61. You can call the bk court today to check the status. I received my "discharge" paper in the mail within a couple days of my discharge. Apparently though it can take as long as a month to receive your discharge paper in the mail though.

Our 341 was in late July. Discharge was granted 10/08. We didn't get our discharge paper until the last week of Oct. An atty that shares the building I work in said that the court clerks consider discharge paperwork a "non-priority" and don't send them out as fast as other paperwork. He warned me that it could take up to 6 months. I'm glad it didn't take that long.

Have you tried calling the court to find out status. Our BK court here in PHX has an automated telephone system where you enter your social or last name and it will give you the status of the case.

discharge letter

when we previously filed ch7. our meeting was on dec 8, our discharge was feb 9. i called the courthouse the day after the discharge order and was able to go to the courthouse and pick up the discharge order the day after the discharge date. i also then recieved one in the mail a few days later.
