What is the name of your state? Norfolk, Virginia
Okay here it is. Two weeks ago I was driving on the I-564 going to the Navy base. A Marine patrol officer pulled me over. The Officer said that he paced me going 100 in a 55 because thats how fast his SUV could go. What should I do about this? I have court on the 15th of this month. Should I get a lawyer? If so do you know any good lawyers? What will the fines be like? Will I do any jail time? If anybody can help please do. Thanks a bunch,

Anthony

Get an attorney now. VA is notorious for under-defining careless and reckless driving and over-charging them. Why is up to debate but likely centers around the money rather than any effect on traffic safety.

You need a professional on your side. Do an internet search for traffic attorneys in your area. You might also tray the JAG office on base and see if they know any locals.

Good luck.

Navy Base, eh? Well - you definitely NEED a lawyer, pronto. Why? Your security clearance is in jeopardy if you are convicted of RECKLESS DRIVING under the Code of Virginia. It's a CLASS 1 MISDEMEANOR with jail time, fines and suspension possible. And you do get a CRIMINAL RECORD which could wreak havoc on any military career.

Good luck.
