What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY
I am in a band and we have just funded and recorded an album of original material. We own the masters and 100% of the publishing. A small indie label has offered us a deal but is asking for co-pub for just the 10 songs on this CD plus 50% of revenue derived from the masters. They are not offering us money, but say they can help license out music, promote us and distribute. Is it common for an indie label who did not invest in your CD to ask for this much? Does anyone know what would be standard in this situation?
