What is the name of your state? Colorado

I received a ticket for running a red light, the officer was in the opposite lane parked under a overpass behind the intersection. I was driving east bound during dawn/sunrise and had glare in my face. I drove thru the intersection thinking it was still yellow as was visible to me underneath the overpass in the shade, the intersection is about 3' from the shadow at that time. Any defense or technicality on my behalf?

Nope. Yellow means slow down and prepare to stop or proceed as long as you can SAFELY make it thru. Pay the ticket and move on.

I didn't pay the fine and had my ticket dismissed. I should have been a lawyer!

You're also a smart ass....which means the next time you get a ticket and try to play games you'll get caught.

Just because the ticket was dismissed has nothing to do with the law or your distain for it. You got lucky. And that's all.

You should not try to be a lawyer....try doing something worthwile with your life, like digging ditches. It pays more and is a stead paycheck. Then you don't have to worry about clients paying you, dealing with people trying to tell you how much they know better than you or trying to beat the system simply because they know better.

I hope some of the longtime attorneys see your post and let you know how they would feel having you for a client. If they took you on at all.

hex, there is nothing wrong in playing games.

i don't think everyone should just admit it and pay up without a fight.. that kills the whole point of courts.

If that's the case then we should tell everyone who comes on here to act as their own attorney and forget the advice they receive...

Sorry, even this liberal ex-hippy won't go that far. This poster came here looking for advice, then thumbed his nose at it. That is the game I'm referring to, not the one that will eventually rise up to bite him in the rear end if he thinks beating one ticket qualifies him to be an attorney.

**A: I don't believe you. Please state your name and case # so that verification can be made.

somehow i feel he won't post that info ;)

hex my comment was not specifically about post but in general. if people don't try to fight then what is the point of the court system? i am personally all for people using an excuse or a loophole to get out of a ticket, even if it is their fault. just my opinion though.. its unfair and immoral i agree and has many reasons not to do it, however i still encourage that...

Wow, the advice was to pay the ticket. I'll bet this poster would have never thought of that on their own. What a shame they passed on such a valuable suggestion.

First of all why does everyone assume a poster is a male? As if women couldn't do this as well. Regardless you want my proof, fine I'll give you my proof if you give me your phone number for me to call and give it to you over the phone. I'm not about to post that. In regards to hexeliebe and the wimpy initial response about paying the fine and letting the system win everytime, I'm sorry, I'm a fighter, it's in my genes and for your information a City Attorney told me he'd give me a reference to University of AZ Law School, because I beat him in district court at the age of 18 regarding a different traffic violation and he was nonplussed.

For the record, it's a known fact I'm a smart ass, and I wasn't playing games. I have principles and ethics which you seem to be lacking, you call yourself a hippie? I think you should change it to wimpy stuck in the 1860's.
As for as to how I was prepared, I researched the State and city ordinances and found the city made revisions recently that did not reflect or incorporate the state's statutes on the same issue. Therefore, the city statute was ambiguous and not legal. See I should have been a lawyer you daffy bas****![/COLOR]
