What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Minnesota. I was working for a company this year and getting paid hourly. One of the other workers told me that when we work on union jobs, we are supposed to be paid the prevailing wage, which is much higher than what we normally make. I know for a fact we worked on a few union contract jobs.

He said our employer is paid accordingly, and that he is just pocketing the difference. Is there any truth to this? He also said it is illegal for the employer to do this, but that nobody had the guts to report him. Confused and need clarification. What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

I'm not sure it's as much a "union job" as it would be a job that must pay prevailing wage. You can read about prevailing wage in construction for the Dept of Transporation in your state here (not sure if this was your industry, however):
