What is the name of your state? Maryland

I recently started a relationship with a fellow employee.this employee is the assistant to the president I am a manager in another department. We are both married 1 of us has been separated and the other will be very soon. If everything at work has been 100% work related can either one of us be terminated? An ex has called the president of the company to make him aware and devoldged very descrimating information about their spouse. Can either of us be teminated for this?

My response:

If you can find, and define, the word "devoldged" in a dictionary, I'll be glad to help you.

My response:

You said you're in "management" which connotes a certain amount of education and intelligence - - so, spelling and grammar are probably the least of your troubles at this time.

Maryland is an "at will" employment State, and you can be terminated at a moments notice, and without reason. You never mentioned what your employer is like; e.g., whether your employer is some sort of religious whacko, or some other form of "butt-in-ski" - - so I don't know if your employer would even care about your relationship. Is there a prohibition about dating in your company manual?

And, if you've only been dating the "assistant" for a short time, how is it that your spouse already knows about the situation? If your spouse already knows, you have another problem - - a lack of being "discreet."

Get it together. Be an intelligent "adulterer."

IAAL's Word of the Day:

di·vulge
tr.v. di·vulged, di·vulg·ing, di·vulg·es

1. To make known (something private or secret).
2. Archaic. To proclaim publicly.

:D Doesn't come close to a Top Ten List... but very educational! ;)

Wayne, the bottom line is that the President can terminate either or both of you if he decides he doesn't like what's been going on. In most instances, the employer doesn't much care what two consenting adults do in private, but they do care when it becomes a topic of gossip around the office and interferes with peoples' focus on their jobs and getting work done.
