What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? TX

I rented a car in Nevada about two months ago from Dollar and turned it in at the end of my trip with no damage that I could see. I have just received a notice from Dollar stating that I owe them $458.27 for damages to the vehicle.

Funny thing is I recently rented a car from Enterprise and was called soon after I dropped it off and told that there was a dent in the bumper and it would need to be replaced because of the damage. I had not been in an accident and the car was close enough to my home so I went to the rental company to see the damage. After about five minutes of looking and rubbing both back and front bumpers the employee was able to find an almost invisible dimple (less than 1/8″ wide/deep.) I swear even if I did a complete inspection I would never have noticed what amounted to a blemish! I turned that over to my insurance company and maybe I need to turn this in as well.

It seems the car rental companies have discovered a new way to generate revenue. I have a call into them now to find out what they are claiming I damaged. If nothing was said at the time I dropped off the car and I am not aware of any damage, what is my liability? Remember this car was turned in almost two months ago with no comments when it was turned in.

Thank you for answering all of our dumb-a** questions, you guys are terrific!
:)

When you first rented the car did you do a walk-thru with the sales rep?

From my experience with Enterprise the rep walks with me and we inspect the car together and note any existing damages (and we sign off on it). When I return the car they walk-thru again and note any changes. So you know right then and there.

No there was no representative involved when I picked up the car. They gave me the keys and sent me on the way with a card to be marked if I saw any problems. I checked it out and there was no damage. They did a walk around when I dropped it off and I did as well. There was no damage apparent or noted by the representative.
