an owner of a studio apartment in my condo is renting part of his apartment to a tenant.

i am under the impression this is illegal?

why would you be under the impression an owner is restricted to rent out his own property?

illegal...no. an issue with any HOA, it might be their issue to deal with.

No other studio apt. owners have a non owner living with them that contributes toward the payments in some way? Boyfriends, girlfriends etc?

Do you REALLY want to try to distinguish between those whose roommates are sleeping with their co-occupant and those who may be merely rommates?

The zoning for the condo may or may not allow this. Also, the condo declarations may or may not allow this.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I'm in a similar situation except that I am the tenant who is renting a room in a condo :p. I really want out. What's the best way to get in touch with the HOA? They're not publicly advertised and I can't find anything online.

You need to post your own question to get the kind of answers you want. How do you know there is an active COA or HOA for where you are living?
